LISA EAST (MFA) is an image-based artist, documentary photographer and researcher whose practice is grounded in analog processes including film and natural light. With a sensitive and relaxed approach to image-making she is drawn to documenting liminal or transitional times in life for their (often quiet) emotional and energetic potency. She engages with photography as an act of care, prioritizing empathetic collaboration with her subjects, materials and environments. Her personal work explores themes of memory, healing, and the mystical in the mundane alongside the notion of the photograph as a threshold space. She holds a Masters of Fine Arts in Documentary Media and an HBA in Gender + Disability Studies.
